Bitcoin (sign: BTC) is a decentralized digital currency based on an open-source peer-to-peer internet protocol
Many of us can remember the days when one bitcoin was worth a dollar, but surprisingly that same bitcoin is now worth $108. The worth of bitcoins is ever increasing, and many people are beginning to grab their share of the treasure. Namecheap, one of the largest domain registrars, has even began to accept bitcoins as a form of payment.
Bitcoins can be earned different ways, the most popular way is mining; my favorite way is coinurl. Still, you can easily accept bitcoin donations from your site to spend them on bitcoin marketplaces, or even sell them for USD, etc.
In order to accept bitcoin donations you will first need to setup a wallet address. I currently use Walletbit, which is a secure service, but they charge .89% on transactions. Sign-up for Walletbit, confirm your email, and sign-in.
Go to “Deposit” on Walletbit, and either select your “Main” address or create a new one specifically for donations. After you select your bitcoin wallet address, which will be a long series of digits, you shall then proceed over to Coin Widget.
Paste your bitcoin wallet address into the field labeled “Bitcoin Wallet Address”, and customize the rest of the options how you would like. After you choose the options you like, copy and paste the code into a widget in your sidebar.
Now you have a bitcoin donation button that will allow people to easily find your wallet address and send you some BTC. Check your Walletbit account on occasion to find out if anyone donated. After you have collected a nice amount of bits, you can sell them for another currency.
