Google has recently released a beta version of a Publisher plugin for WordPress.
But what is the ‘Publisher Plugin’? The publisher plugin gives you access to the monetization tool Google AdSense and Webmaster Tools for your blog, as long as you have your own domain name and have WordPress installed.
Google has released this in it’s beta stage, but has said they are “fine-tuning the plugin to make sure it works well on the many WordPress sites out there”. So long story short, it should be okay for the majority of users, but you should expect a few bugs.
Once installed, the plugins shows parts of your website where you can add AdSense blocks, which couldn’t be easier with it’s handy arrows. After selecting an ad placement, you can change the advertisement settings and preview what an example advert will look like alongside your blog’s content.
The Webmaster Tools support allows you to verify your WordPress site “with just one click”.
Unfortunately, the plugin cannot be installed on WordPress.com hosting websites at this time.
So far, the plugin has been downloaded almost 5,000 times in the past few days and received 3.8 out of 5 star rating. You can download it here.
There are various issues that people are having with the plugin at the moment, and we are keeping tracks on them so we can update you.
